We have already learned that staying up all night to study is not a very smart choice. However, what should we do before a big exam? Is it all right to revise or will this only stress us out? Should we go out with our friends to unwind or should we stay in to think about the exam? We’ve done some digging and came up with the most efficient guide to spending the night before an important test.
Review your notes, but don’t cram!
Reviewing is absolutely crucial before a test. However, many students confuse reviewing with cramming. Cramming has been scientifically proven to be ineffective when there is a lot of information to digest since the things we learn will only be stored in our short-term memory.
Get your stuff ready for the morning
Don’t leave packing to the last minute. You may start to feel rushed, anxious, and your mind will not concentrate on what’s really important – the information you need. So have your clothes ironed, your food and writing tools packed and put your keys where you can see them.
Visualize a positive outcome, don’t panic!
Either you are confident with what you’ve studied or not, now it’s too late to adjust things. What you can do, however, is to keep a positive attitude and trust yourself. There’s nothing good in taking the exam under a constant stress.
Relax as you enjoy the most, and have a good night’s sleep
You’ve studied so hard, and now it’s time to unwind. Read your favorite book, watch a movie with a friend, meditate; the options are infinite. But whatever you do, make sure you go to bed at a reasonable time.
